Why Frontier Mushing Co‑op Deserves a Front-Page Glimpse in The Wilds of Alaska Journal

Why Frontier Mushing Co‑op Deserves a Front-Page Glimpse in The Wilds of Alaska Journal

Alaska is all about heartfelt connection with place, with story, and yes, with huskies. Truth be told, 3 Gypsies and a Passport lives in the heart of mushing country. We’re surrounded by these furry beasts, and we love it.

That’s why we’re thrilled to feature Frontier Mushing Co‑op (aka Last Frontier Mushing Co‑op) in The Wilds of Alaska Journal. Nestled just outside Fairbanks, they offer heart‑centered adventures through true Alaskan wilderness. Here’s why they stand out:

Artisanal Dog-Sledding Along Yukon Quest Terrain

Their classic winter mush is more than a ride, it’s a private glide through Yukon Quest country on cushioned sleds with reindeer hides, quiet snow, and joyous huskies. Some of these trails are the same ones Jen and I take with our own dogs and it feels like living inside a Hallmark Christmas movie.

Fall Cart Rides Through Golden Light

No snow? No problem. When the leaves turn and the air gets that crisp edge, Frontier’s fall tours offer a mellow, wildly Alaskan ride on dog-drawn carts. We’ve taken this tour with Chase (one of the guides) even tho we have our own dogs at home, it was a blast. The fall colors, the thrill of the run, it’s truly pure magic.

Aurora Viewing with Yurt-Lit Magic

If you come to Alaska and don’t chase the aurora, did you even come? Frontier’s aurora tour pairs a heart-racing mushing experience with cozy yurt lounging while you wait for the lights. They supply the boots, parkas, and hot drinks. You bring the wide-eyed wonder.

Why We’re Proud to Feature Them

This isn’t about competition, it’s community. Like our friends at Chena Outdoor Collective, Frontier Mushing Co‑op brings their own unique story to the trail. Their co‑operative model means each dog is known and loved by a single musher, fewer tourists, more heart.
