Just outside of Fairbanks, in the town of Two Rivers, Alaska, tucked among spruce trees and snowy trails, sits one of our favorite hidden gems: Chena Outdoor Collective. Whether we’re hosting friends from out of state or planning a fun local adventure, this is always at the top of our list. Why We Love It
Chena Outdoor Collective offers more than a photo op, it’s an experience rooted in deep care for animals and a love of Alaska’s wild spirit. They offer guided reindeer walks, dog sledding tours, and special seasonal events like Tea with the Reindeer. Every visit feels a little magical.
One of the best parts? Along with Kalyn the main tour guide you’ll sometimes find Jen, my business partner, guiding the reindeer tours as well. Their knowledge and connection to the animals bring something truly special to the experience.
What to Expect
Reindeer Walks: Stroll through the forest with your own reindeer companion. You’ll learn how reindeer differ from caribou, hear their quirky habits, what they like to eat, touch and see Antlers up close and maybe even get a kiss on the cheek.
Dog Mushing: In winter, hop on a sled and feel the power of a well-loved team of huskies as they guide you through quiet snow-covered trails. In the fall, take a tour on a side-by-side and see the changing of the leaves.
Fireside Tea with the Reindeer: A cozy, evening gathering where you sip tea, ask questions, and spend relaxed time with the herd, roaming free around you. It’s peaceful, charming, and unforgettable. (This is one of my favorites)

A Family Favorite
We’ve brought family, friends, and even skeptical teens—and they all leave smiling. Whether it’s your first time in Alaska or your hundredth, this is one of those experiences that sticks with you and we highly recommend it.
